How Much Technology Should There Be in Education Nowadays?

Updated: Mar 31, 2021

TECHNOLOGY has developed in such a way that it is omnipresent in our life, representing an important trend in the last two centuries. Its advantages are numerous, but if we change our perspective, technology might be compared with a double-edged sword. How beneficial can it be in the learning process?

The programs implemented in schools have the purpose of offering students an improved learning process, making the study a pleasant experience. Also, technology eliminated the constraints in what concerns time and space. With its help, the information can be stored more simply, as the digital libraries don’t require a physical space and both students and teachers, located on different sides of Earth, can access the same documentation source at the same time.

On the other hand, technology can take as much as it gives. Even if it makes the learning process easier, it can also be seen as a distraction source. Children are often being caught in its “nets” without even being aware, technology sometimes being more attractive than studying. That’s how you can spend hours playing with a new gadget before realizing that it was not your priority at all and now you are out of time doing important things.

In conclusion, the importance of technology in education is better outlined than its side effects. The biggest impact the technology has upon education is the change of perspective. The change of view from thinking and learning on a local level to a global level can be assigned also to technology, that’s why its main effect is a beneficial one.
